Icons of cuteness from a bygone era are set to unite! In a very "I didn't have THAT on my bingo card" moment, 80s properties Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake are set to cross over in an animated special aimed at preschoolers. The special is called "The Care Berry Switch." The logline is as follows:
"Beloved characters Strawberry Shortcake and Cheer Bear have never met, but in The Care Berry Switch, when they each wish upon the same star for a new adventure, they open a magical portal that allows them to switch places and explore one another’s worlds.
As “fish out of water,” with Strawberry in Care-A-Lot and Cheer Bear with The Berries in Strawberryland, tons of humor, magic, fun and new friendships ensue. But trouble looms as the iconic Strawberry foe, Purple Pie Man, and the Care Bears’ long-time nemesis, No Heart, conspire to cause chaos, compelling the Care Bears and The Berries to team up to save the worlds they love and preserve the wonderful new friendships they’ve made."
While the properties were initially created under the American Greetings umbrella and got started as greeting cards, each franchise became multimedia hits during the decade of materialism. Strawberry Shortcake had animated specials that would air yearly for a time, while the Care Bears had some animated specials before getting animated series, first animated by DiC and then Nelvana. The Bears, and their menagerie of Cousins, also had 3 full length animated movies (Care Bears II is the Empire Strikes Back of the Trilogy! Fight me!).
There is no information on when the special will air in the article.
SOURCE Y'all... they're bringing back NO HEART. These people know their Care Bears. I don't think No Heart's ever been mentioned since the Nelvana series across any of the reboots.
