I do like the idea of just being able to get in line if you have a pass, because that feels closer to the BEST system, which was the paper passes. But paying for it?? Per park??? Lmao bye.

The OG Fast Pass had Donald on the back of the tickets, too. Our benevolent King. Mickey would never allow such a glorious thing to be free.

The Defunctland video about Fast Passes kinda proves that the original paper ticket system was the ideal Fast Pass system and generally worked as intended.

But Disney can't monetize a free system that works well at creating a better guest experience so of course it had to go!

I liked how they were like "oh, that giant monster out there? Some of the people out there have figured out how to be friends with it and like it!"

The last time I went to Disney, it was the paper passes, and it was really convenient. Get your ticket, go do stuff, and come back later for the ride. Now it feels so complex now where you have to go online months in advance, pick your ride, date, and time, and keep your fingers crossed your plans don’t change.

The only person who suffered during the paper system was the poor sap who got designated as the "runner" if your group had one and had to take all the tickets and go to the kiosk and come back.

We weren’t that organized when we went. When we passed a ride, we’d get passes, and wander around for a couple hours. But even without the passes, the wait times didn’t feel that bad because the queues had things to look at. But that was 20 years ago before they bought up Star Wars and Marvel so I don’t think there was the high demand for the bigger rides as there are now.
