Maybe I'm just grouchy this morning but do all celebrities have to monetize their hobbies now?
ETA: I want to be clear that I'm not knocking him for being sober and talking about how he feels better after doing that, and I'm sure it's not easy for a celebrity with parties and industry events. It just seems like so many celebrities basically say "I'm enjoying/doing X--how do I make money off that?"
Yeah, I hear you. I think a lot of celebrities are getting smarter about maximizing their window of popularity, so they do shit like this, make bank when they sell to a bigger company, and then don't have to depend on taking roles they don't want to pay the bills.
I mean it’s low effort on their part and it’s marketing something they actually care about.
If you’re already a spokesperson for a whole bunch of shit you don’t care about, why not be a spokesperson for something you actually care about and get paid while doing it. It’s a win win.
I can appreciate the celebrities that are at least using it to fill a necessary gap (popularizing non-alcoholic beverages, putting out darker shades of foundation for poc, accessible products, clothing upcycling, etc.) like Tom is, but I am definitely tired of every celebrity thinking they need to be a lifestyle brand. Petition for the word 'brand' and 'mogul' to be derogatory as they should be.
Tbh the only thing I really hate is how much this flows into EVERYONE their life. My bff (And many others) is always talking about the needs to turn literally anything she enjoys into a 'side hustle' like girl stop, it's okay to just -enjoy- things you don't need to turn everything into an opportunity.
I totally understand people are excited about more non-alcoholic options, but it's so weird that celebs keep shilling stuff. Like, you already have to be rich and famous to be an entrepreneur? Also, I'm pretty sure celebs aren't creating this stuff, they're just putting their name and face on it.
Lol I think we were all wondering that in the last Brooklyn Beckham post, who is now *checks notes* the founder of a hot sauce brand 😑
I don't mind this one because there seems to be a demand for non-alcoholic beverages. But I agree that it's getting too much. How many skincare lines and perfumes do we need!
That's how non-celebrities think, too, when they start their small businesses. The difference is celebrities have the money and connections to start their business and they can afford the financial risk. So instead of selling homemade soaps and candles at the farmer's market, they can just launch a campaign.
I think someone said the the Blake Lively hair care line post that agents & managers are pushing their clients to have another income stream because their acting/singing career may not last. So that's why so many have a makeup/hair care/clothing brand now.

It’s not like the market is saturated with NA beers. Especially not decent ones.
