German here, he's been known as an asshole for decades. Nothing but another old white man who struggles to accept that times have changed and that he will be held accountable for his actions now.

I didn't watch Wetten dass often but looking back I really don't get how it stayed so popular with him as host, he sucked as a host from what I remember, in addition to being touchy with female guests.

I didn't see it, only when Fleetwood Mac, Take That and Michael Jackson visited, I zapped in and out. Because I hated Gottschalk, he was always insufferable.
