October 13, 2024 Terrifier 3 ended up taking the top spot at the box office, with a franchise high opening of $18.3 million, a huge win for the gory, unrated indie slasher. Its haul from this weekend alone surpassed what the previous film made globally.
On the other hand, Joker: Folie à Deux straight up imploded this weekend, dropping 81% from an already abymsal opening weekend, and bringing in just slightly over $7 million. It is more or less tied with Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice for third, and could end up slipping to fourth if estimates are too high.
The Wild Robot placed second with $13.45 million, while Transformers One came in sixth with $3.65 million. Newcomer Piece by Piece brought in $3.8 million, putting it in fifth place.
Saturday Night expanded wide this weekend, but only pulled in $3.43 million. Briarcliff's The Apprentice made much less, taking in $1.58 million.
Meanwhile, limited release We Live in Time scored $226k on five screens, with a $45.9k per screen average.
