Wyt people speaking about making an Asian thing better in front of an Asian is very ick.
Simu Liu had very valid points about this brand and their cultural appropriation of bubble tea. And pls, popping boba's been in the market back in like 2017 or something.

fr the pantelists talking about 'i've never heard of this' 'i've never tried this' yall are in the wrong neighborhoods! if popping boba has made it to my verrry white texas suburb (so white the closest decent taco shop is in the next suburb over) then it's not the new-fangled invention they were selling.

This is slightly off topic but it reminds me of the main judge on the Great British Bake Off. This man is a professional in the food industry yet he knows NOTHING about non-British food. This week, one of the non-white contestants (he is Indian, Japanese, and Belgian) made something with gochujang. The head judge said he'd never tasted it before (and based on the conversation he had with this baker, he'd never heard of it before). I was like bruv, you have been able to get gochujang at Trader Joe's for years. I don't know how much more mainstream and readily available you can get than suburban moms being able to buy it at a national chain.
As for these YT people claiming that they're innovators for offering popping boba, DUNKIN DONUTS offered them in 2021. That's right, Dunkin freaking Donuts.
