Oct 09, 2024 03:08

For more than half a century, the major party candidates for president have sat down with 60 Minutes. This year, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump accepted our invitation. Unfortunately, last week Trump canceled.

My take away she will continue to support Israel's genocide.

And meanwhile! Trump will accelerate it AND rob Americans of all of their rights, including the right to protest. 🥰

People are already getting arrested for protesting NOW, under Biden. But go off i guess.

theres a difference between getting arrested during a protest and not being able to protest at all but go off I guess

Excuse me, they were arrested by local, NY police under Eric Adams for breaking the law, not for protesting. They were arrested for trespass within Columbia University. Kind of like Trump's mob taking over the Capital.

If they'd stayed on the street, they wouldn't have been arrested.

Not them giving you the bird reaction for this lol. Like, they are truly so morally bankrupt.

i genuinely smiled seeing that reaction lmao. its not like it was even my extended ancestors but literally my parents born during the viet war, raised during the viet war, became refugees after the viet war. where history is repeating itself for us to witness in 4k. and ya know, you read about historical events and think, would i have joined so and so school protests, would i have been on the right side of history? clearly half of these ontd commenters would not have been lol

I’m sorry that user was inconsiderate towards you. She was like that towards me (plus ableist) in another post. She told me that I should’t advocate for liberation of Palestine or criticise the US government actions because I don’t live in “reality” (I have a long history of mental illnesses so that was great to hear! Not!) or understand anything (I’m autistic and ADHDer). She said that she knows Harris will stop the US support of Israel when she gets elected and that being silent is real advocacy. This user has her head so far up her and Harris’s asses that she can’t admit or concede that people who feel differently have any valid points.

yeesh! yeah i think i recognize their type of comments sorry that happened to you too.

and its like, you know they know better but they wanna be condescending of like well dont say so and so you want the other guy to win hes worse! and its like uhh no, who said that? we understand we're all playing the same game. while someone like them is content with being moderate slightly to the left, yes, others will try to pull you more to the left as possible. how do you think politicians are pulled to the left? by everyone acquiescing to their status quo and not pushing back?

I agree with you 💯!

a lot of ONTD comments (and especially that users) reek of "as long as we stablise the empire" white woman BS

truly tho - lets stabilize things now as of course right after they are elected we'll push them to be more aggressive!! who they think is gonna push them to be more aggressive? you or the ones you telling to be quiet for now as youll get your progress later? we clearly got diff levels of atrocity we accept before demanding better. if they accept we gotta be realistic about playing the game to capture undecided moderates, then accept we playing the same game. they pulling the moderates left? then we pulling them further left cuz otherwise theyd either never budge or just justify conceding more to the right to win.

This whole thread is taking me out, like it went from "if Trump is elected protesting will be illegal" to "oh Dems are already using the power of the state to crack down on protests? Well that's actually good and fine because it's The Law" like I cannot imagine being this ethically, morally, intellectually, and spiritually empty.
