People were being wild about Anne during this period. I remember her getting super irate that reporters kept asking her how she got skinny and she was like "I'm playing a character that is literally dying, that is not a good thing"

I always had mixed feelings on that because Anne use to mention her weight loss in interviews for prior films. Because at the time it you wanted an oscar or were promoting during campaign season you'd start mentioning the dedication to losing or gaining weight and she played into that before. I guess by the time she was promoting Les Mis the idea of that started shifting a bit that wasn't as necessary~ as before.

ETA: So her suddenly acting offended~ about it in other interviews had me rolling my eyes cause it if had benefitted previously she would've been fine with it.

That's just called growing up and also playing a literally dying character.

No more like the trends had changed and she dumped it now that it wasn't as necessary for her goals.

is that a bad thing?

i don't think it's a sin to be ambitious. and the tides changed so that she didn't have to talk about her body to convince people that her work was valuable. i can see how she would be over it, especially with the benefit of hindsight on what that might have done to her and to other women watching. especially if (assuming) she never really wanted to do it in the first place but felt that doing it got her closer to accomplishing her goals.

I don't think it's wrong to be ambitious (she ended up getting her oscar lol) buuut I did think it was a bit hypocritical of her against it when she was partaking in it not that long ago at the time.
