October 7, 2024 -Roswell has officially hit the big 25th anniversary
-The show would air on The WB for S1-2 and UPN for S3 all the while managing to be cancelled three times within its short lifespan and revived twice.
-Creator Jason Katims looks back at getting the show made:
- Was very drawn to the idea of using aliens and alienation as a metaphor for adolescence
- Originally produced for FOX but didnt make it to slate so WB picked it up.
- Jason Behr aka Max was cast days before they shot the pilot
- WB pushed for more Alien/Lore
- Was a huge hit online but not live ratings wise and thus cancelled after S1 before fans sent thousands of hot sauce bottles to WB prompting them to renew for S2....only for them to cancel it again at the end of S2...only for UPN to pick it up....only for UPN to send it off to space, never to be renewed again
- Faced fan backlash in S2 over breaking up Max/Liz and was happy to return the show to a more down to the Earth feel once again in S3
- Was his show real show by himself after only working on 2 prior shows and would go on to bring us Friday Night Lights
