there’s no set time for a common law marriage. you have to be cohabiting and presenting yourself as married (in the states that allow it.) Obviously a sane judge wouldn’t say you’re common law married after a month of living together, but it also isn’t a thing that kicks in after 7 years like some people think.

Honestly most states have gotten rid of common law marriage anyway, there's only like 10 states that still have it in any form.

There are states that will recognize it if it was contracted in another state though. Like CA doesn't have it, but if it was contracted in MT they acknowledge it as a legal thing.

yes they’ve been married for real. Kanye got mad when the tabloids didn’t believe that the marriage was real so he sent a copy of the marriage license to TMZ if I remember correctly. they got married in california which offers confidential marriage licenses which is how TMZ didn’t find out until he sent them a copy.

so to that end, I assume she probably will be getting some money?

edit: he sent the marriage license to the DailyMail not TMZ but yes they legally married on December 20, 2022
