idk what the fuck was going on with the BBC Merlin cast dynamics, but thanks to chronically online teenage years i could speculate at length, lol

not sure if this one counts but The Civil Wars HAD to be fucking. I saw them twice live, once when they were little known and electric, and once 2/3 days before they broke up. It's really hard to describe the chemistry they had, both times, and the way it soured between the first and second gig--but it was tangible, and it permeated the venue both times. If they weren't fucking, they broke up because they were on the precipice and didn't want to doom their respective marriages by falling over that edge.

Ohhhh yeah, there was for sure something going on in The Civil Wars. I don’t know if they were actually boning or got close to it and freaked or what, though. Their break up was so sudden, and right before they meant to be touring Australia 😭 I’m not a concert person, but I definitely would have gone to see them.

Oh yes something definitely happened when they were in England on tour in 2012. I only discovered them a few months before their second album and I was like "yep I'll never see them live" T_T
From both little statements they released and how he didn't even mentioned her, I'm side eyeing him and even more so with the 10 age gap.
Only two albums but they're both on my top 10 of my all time favourite!

They are my Roman Empire. I will never recover from their breakup and not getting new music from them together.

the way their voices fit together - an actual crime they've deprived us of it

Taylor got them to sing on Safe and Sound (TV) though they probably recorded their parts separately. But technically it's new music

They did record separately and are not credited as The Civil Wars.

I got vibes from some of Joy's interviews after. She intimated that he was the problem.

He is the one who seems to have the most animosity toward their partnership. Just wish dude would go to therapy and then they could get back together and make beautiful music again.

yesss The Civil Wars abrupt break up is truly my biggest Roman empire bc their music still remains masterpieces to this day. i feel like two ppl that didn't have feelings for each other and/or have fucked could make the type of music they made without that intense chemistry. i'm of the camp that something almost happened in 2012 and they caught themselves in time but knew it couldn't go on anymore and they had to separate before marriages were ruined

Re: The Civil Wars - I assumed they never crossed that line since Joy Williams' then-husband was their manager and always with them. Something major must have gone down though since according to Joy, John Paul basically ghosted her after.

Maybe they had an emotional affair and decided to end it before they crossed the line?

Civil Wars DEF had an affair. You’ll never convince me otherwise. Their post split solo albums make it even more obvious.

I will never not wonder about the Civil Wars. There was definitely something going on, whether it actually happened or came close to happening.
