It’s so crazy to me how differently I view these men as an adult versus as a child. They were like the boogey men for a while. And literally everyone at the time was totally convinced they were psychotic murderers who would kill for money. It’s actually a little hard for me to think of them as anything other than “those two brothers who murderers their parents” but the reality is that a dozen of their family verified that this abuse took place, that they’d witnessed it themselves and it’s clear that these two men should not have gone to prison. Or, if they did, on a manslaughter charge for a couple years. We only get one life to live and this world really did those men dirty.

And holy shit they weren’t allowed to see each other for 20 years!

That part makes me so angry and sad for them. I hope they get out and have years of freedom and happiness they deserve it!

This is where I am with it. I'm old enough to remember all the Dominick Dunne articles in Vanity Fair about it and I had a very black-and-white viewpoint on it at that time.

Yep. And this is why the brothers are mad by the new show. Ryan is taking liberties with some of the facts and highlighting some of the more salacious things. And in their mind it could likely set back some of the progress they’ve made over the last decade in being taken more seriously and for their case to be seen for what it really was vs. the monster story the media initially ran with.

Definitely. I was like 5 or 6 when it happened and then a bit older by the time the trial happened. It was always framed as spoiled Beverly Hills rich kids killed their parents for money. I certainly don't remember hearing a word about abuse but as a kid I wasn't exactly following the news.
