A prominent Texas lawyer says he’s now working with 120 people with a range of sexual abuse claims against Sean “Diddy” Combs that have gone through a “stringent” process of vetting and corroboration. The lawyer, Tony Buzbee, claims 25 of the new clients were minors at the time of their alleged abuse.
[TW]“When we talk about the ages of the victims when the conduct occurred, it’s shocking,” Buzbee said at a press conference streamed online Tuesday. “Our youngest victim at the time of the occurrence was 9 years old. We have an individual who was 14 years old. We have one who was 15.” You can read more details here.
According to Buzbee, his group of 120 clients includes 60 men and 60 women. He said the alleged abuse goes as far back as 1991 and predominantly occurred in New York, California, Florida, and Atlanta. “If you wonder why there are so many alleged victims, that’s your answer. We’re talking about more than 25 years of this type of conduct,” he said. “This has been going on for a very long time.”
“The day will come when we will name names other than Sean Combs. And there’s a lot of names,” Buzbee said at the news conference. “The names that we’re going to name, assuming our investigators confirm and corroborate what we’ve been told, are names that will shock you,” he added. “I’m talking here about not just the cowardly but complicit bystanders, that is those people that we know watched this behavior occur and did nothing. And I’m talking about the people that participated, encouraged it, egged it on. They know who they are.”
He said that the lawsuits will name a number of co-defendants, including members of Combs’s family, record labels, event venues and other partygoers. While attorneys didn’t share details about the alleged associates during the news conference, Van Arsdale told The Post that they include “household names.”
Buzbee told reporters that he planned to pursue “anyone who participated in any way” in the alleged assaults, including anyone who happened to be present at the time and “did nothing to report or stop it.”
Erica Wolff, an attorney for Combs, denied the allegations in a statement Tuesday. “As Mr. Combs’ legal team has emphasized, he cannot address every meritless allegation in what has become a reckless media circus. That said, Mr. Combs emphatically and categorically denies as false and defamatory any claim that he sexually abused anyone, including minors. He looks forward to proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court, where the truth will be established based on evidence, not speculation.”
Diddy is currently trying to appeal his decision to get out of jail on bond for a third time with a new legal team.
