They have been promoting this movie forever. I would LOVE to know how big the marketing budget is.

What's the consensus btw? Do people expect the movie(s) to be good?
Is the movie expected to do well at the box office?

I feel another "Cats" coming, but I could be wrong.

I adore the musical. ADORE!!!! I've listened to the Broadway album so many times. Followed Idina, Kristen, and Leo's careers because of this show. Spent money on bootlegs before versions were up on Youtube. Read Gregory Maguire's damn novel it was based on. I freaking ADORE WICKED! I know every word to every song. I've watched different Elphabas and Glindas and enjoyed so many.

And... I have absolutely zero interest in seeing this film. At all. The casting is NGL. The film looks cheap as fuck. It's just... nah, I'm not here for this. I'll keep my Broadway version, not this knockoff Wal-mart brand that looks like shit.

It depends on how they focus the story. The music will probably hook new fans, and the ones too young to remember the cringe of Glee are probably hungry for something on the same level.

I don't like the splitting, but then again the 2nd act is a little rushed. I wonder wtf they're gonna do.

W/ that said I'm gonna love it regardless due to nostalgia/I love the Broadway album lol

I hate that it’s going to be in two parts and I think they’re going to lose any momentum they create. And I hate the casting. However, the trailer was better than I expected and I do want to see it.

I don’t think it’ll be Cats level. No one was interested in a Cats musical. There are a lot of die-hard Wicked fans, though. I think it’ll have an ok first week and drop, ultimately either bomb or just barely scrape by. I am going to guess it’s going to get ok reviews, not totally panned but not lauded.

Maybe a fake it til you make it situation? Keep pretending it's such an important film and hope something sticks?

I don't think it will flop as much as Cats, I think it will be a big enough opening but Part 2 will definitely struggle. I am really curious about the 2hr40 min runtime because that's about the same runtime as the musical including intermission

It is a really popular musical, but musical to film popularity is fickle because there's nothing like live theater (ie I was bored af watching Hamilton on Disney+ I didn't even finish it but watching it live was amazing, even though I didn't know the actors).
