Went to see Saturday Night last night with a Q&A afterward - we had Jason Reitman, Gabriel LaBelle, Lamorne Morris, Kim Matula and Robert Wuhl.
The movie was fun - lots of shakycam chaos, some really nice performances, and an effective framing device. My main complaint is that it's a little too shallow, and I would have loved to gotten to know the performers a little better, but I think it'd be tough to do in a two hour movie with such a large cast.
The Q&A was nice, too. We've seen a lot of Jason since we moved to LA, because he used to host live reads of scripts all the time, and he's always seemed very funny and down-to-earth. Hadn't seen him in a few years, but it was like no time had passed, only his hair has gotten gray. Gabriel LaBelle (heard him introduce himself to a fan afterward as Gabe) seems very appreciative for the role and like an overall sweetie. Lamorne got the loudest round of applause as everyone sat down, and when they talked about the set being full of professionals with no big egos, he made a joke about that being the case because it was before he got his Emmy.
Earlier this week, we saw Lee, which I liked, and Megalopolis, which I didn't. Monday is The Wild Robot!
