• SNL turns 50 this year and Jean Smart is here to help kick off the golden anniversary!
• Despite the Hacks star's illustrious career, she has never hosted the show before (not even during the run of Designing Women! Crazy!). She will be the first reigning Best Actress in a Comedy winner to host the show since Phoebe Waller-Bridge hosted in 2019.
• Hip-hop country singer Jelly Roll is also there tonight as the musical guest. Don't ask me any other questions, I don't know who he is.
• Three in, three out: over the summer news broke that Punkie Johnson, Molly Kearney, and Chloe Troast were unfortunately not returning to the show for season 50. A week later we learned that there were three new featured players debuting this year: Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim, and Jane Wickline.
• Devon Walker, Michael Longfellow, and Marcello Hernandez were all promoted to the main cast!

• Maya Rudolph popped up for the Thursday promo because she's playing Kamala again! Hopefully we won't see the return of Baldwin Trump in Lorne's craven attempts at being relevant again this election.
