On Tuesday, September 24, NYC Mayor Eric Adams was indicted for accepting illegal campaign contributions and plane trips from the Turkish government in the lead up to and during his mayoral run, between 2016 and 2021.

Among all this, investigators also subpoenaed Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Annunciation Parish, specifically its pastor Jamie Gigantiello. Gigantiello is being investigated for his ties to Adams’ former chief of staff Frank Carone.

This subpoena was issued in part due to a previous investigation into Gigantiello's role in Sabrina Carpenter's "Feather" music video.

In October 2023, Sabrina Carpenter's “Feather” music video released with several portions being filmed inside of Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Annunciation Parish with Gigantiello's permission. The Diocese of Brooklyn was appalled by this and demoted Gigantiello from being a vicar, but they allowed him to remain a pastor.

According to diocese representatives who spoke to the NY Post, the investigators' subpoena targeting Gigantiello and Carone was linked to the church’s own investigation into Gigantiello over “Feather”. Sources say the review “is still ongoing,” but that the church is “fully committed to cooperating with law enforcement in all investigations, including conduct at individual parishes or involving any priest.”
