It’s wild how there was no attempt as sensitivity training for this press tour. Idk if they were trying to muddle that it was a movie about DV, but it’s messed up to treat it like a romcom and then spring the real content on the non-book reading audience.

I agree. I don't read her books or follow Hoover, and I was horrified when I found out what the theme of this movie actually was because they were totally selling it as a rom-com.

yeah my mother came really close to going to see it because she thought it was just a standard romance movie. Then she saw a longer trailer and realized it was abuse and noped out immediately.

The emphasis around clothes and Blake lively as a style “icon” was so odd, it was like they planned the press tour for a Confessions of an Shopoholic esque movie and then just used it for this one.

Lbr people wouldn’t go to a movie if they know it was about DV. It’s an awkward taboo subject (incorrectly) and depressing. The market is starved of romcoms and that one with the capybara man and Sweety lady or whoever had success so I think they were trying to piggy back off of that.
