I really don't think kids should be in these entertainment circles. :( like I know terrible things happen everywhere but it's just not safe/appropriate for them

absolutely. decades of hearing about child abuse in the industry and it's still happening? fucking monsters

in this instance i hope usher and bieber were able to get the help they needed with whatever trauma they went through as teens

They really shouldn’t, but parents’ entitlement and desperation to live their failed dreams usually speaks louder. You do have the very rare kid who loves being an artist and who might even be lucky to have parents who actually take care of them, but those are the exception, never the rule. I hate sets with children bc while the children tend to be great fun they usually come paired with terrible adults.

A lot of them look soo dead behind the eyes as adults - there's a reason why soo many turn to drugs, alcohol, and sex to cope.... ://

No coincidence that former child stars who are stable now are ones who had firm parents that didn't want to be celebrities.

I just don't understand letting your kids go to adult events like parties under any circumstances. There's only one thing an adult party for adults wants teenagers there for and it's to take advantage of them

biebers mom specifically did not give a flying fuck and just wanted to party herself, shes always been a loser. even when we were kids and fans of him as a kid we were all sideeying her.

I was saying to my wife, I don't know the names of Emma Watson's parents or Natalie Portman's parents, but I know the names of Dina Lohan and Jamie Spears and Jaid Barrymore. The parents who want something from their child's fame are doing endless harm to them.

I just watched that Menendez + Menudo documentary and realizing Menudo was basically a front for the manager to rape kids is just. so upsetting.

the manager of Menudo is a serial predator and abused MANY of those boys. One of them is trying to get justice but sadly most of them don't want to talk about it. It was even brought up decades ago by a photographer who worked with them who wanted to expose it, and the dude ended up getting ARRESTED in Puerto Rico for defamation because the Menudo manager basically owned the police. It is such an incredibly upsetting story.

The link to the Menendez brothers is that Jose Menendez worked at RCA records and signed Menudo, and assaulted at least one of the Menudo band members who has come forward about it. When the brothers were on trial the prosecution's case was essentially that Jose was a great guy, a great dad, with no other accusers. But Roy Rossello of Menudo says Jose raped him when he was 14.

That whole documentary was upsetting and she light on a lot of things. I loved the Menudo as a youngster and there were whispers in the mid 80s that something "wasn't right." I feel so badly for a lot of them, especially since some were targeted while others were not.

yeah for a Gen-Xer like me, it was shocking to realize that was happening with Menudo the whole time. I think what upset me the most about the doc was that poor photographer who tried to blow the whistle decades ago and then he got fucking arrested!! Like, I cna't imagine being in a situation where you KNOW children are being harmed and you speak out and no one believes you. Just awful and sad and so many people failed those boys.

I wonder if his mom/dad/caregiver ever apologized for essentially adopting him out to diddy as a teen. Especially now this is coming out, I'd be curious to know if Usher forgave his family for this.
