It is sooooo good. I know it’s not ~art~ but a film teacher of mine tried talking shit and I bonded with a fellow classmate when we told him how wrong he was.

I can’t comment on how accurate it is but it’s a fucking entertaining and well led movie.

The film has an unreliable narrator who claims to have secretly plotted against Mozart and no one has ever found out... And who is in an insane asylum at this point. The deviation from history is the point.

Yesss!!! This is it! Because wasn’t Salieri really a supporter of Mozart but people assumed he was jealous and used that to discredit him??

And he is really supportive in the film. He is at every opera premiere (even the one in Prague), he tries to get him jobs, he is at his deathbed, funeral. Mozart dies thinking Saleri is his friend. His jealousy is the well-kept secret.

So it's perfecly aligned with known history. If there is historical accuracy people can really come for with this film, it's the women's costumes. The men's costume have a range from shit to "probably wearing original garments" but the women's stuff is bad through and through.
