I only watched it for the first time a few years ago, and expected to love it, but it didn’t work for me! The script wasn’t great, and the visual treatment on some parts of it didn’t age well, imo. I’ll probably watch it again before we go see this one… maybe I’ll change my mind? Idk though.

It's interesting that you mention the script - it was having repeated re-writes up until the days of shooting and throughout filming I think!

I agree because I watched a few months ago and thought it was great as a visual epic but the script itself was the weakest element.

Interesting, I haven’t watched it in years but I remember I loved it, I’ll do a rewatch before the new one.

I watched it for the first time a couple days ago and was surprised i did like it tbh

I didn’t like it either because I don’t like Russell Crowe. Even as a kid I just did not enjoy him in films lol.
