I gave up around the same time, which was a big deal for me because I am a completionist and usually stick with tv shows/books until the bitter end. But I just got to a point where I couldn't take any more polar bear or smoke monster nonsense.
I did come back to watch the episode where Sun and Jin died and then the series finale.

I read the explanations for the polar bear and the smoke monster after the show ended and I am glad I didn't stick around for three more seasons because I would have been so mad about those reveals.
