I gave up after the third season I think, when it was clear that they were only going to add questions and never answer them.

True. I just didn’t think I could take another season of mystery with zero payoff.
Did they ever explain the polar bear, the smoke monster, or what happened to Walt?

I gave up around the same time, which was a big deal for me because I am a completionist and usually stick with tv shows/books until the bitter end. But I just got to a point where I couldn't take any more polar bear or smoke monster nonsense.

I did come back to watch the episode where Sun and Jin died and then the series finale.

Such a waste if you didn’t even see season 5 which may be the best.

I read the explanations for the polar bear and the smoke monster after the show ended and I am glad I didn't stick around for three more seasons because I would have been so mad about those reveals.

4 and 5 are incredible television. tbh I think 1-3 are fantastic outside of a few duds (the Charlie flashback in season 2, the Jack tattoo one, the Locke on a weird weed compound lol) but 4 and 5 are on another level. the Constant is so incredible.
