I'm an introvert by nature so I thought I would enjoy full-time remote work, but honestly, I got really depressed. I think it's because I live alone. There where days or weekends when activities with friends/family got cancelled or moved so I'd barely even leave the house.

For me, hybrid is the best solution.

Yeah I was glad my job can't be done remotely because I wouldn't have talked to a soul during the pandemic. That wouldn't have been good for me mentally. Although I do wish companies weren't forcing people back into the office because my commute was amazing when most were WFH.

I agree. Despite my experience, I am totally against offices forcing people to go back to the office if their work can be done remotely. Honestly, I think both sides need to be more understanding to each other. As Depeche Mode once said... different people have different needs 🎶

I feel this. I love the flexibility of working from home, but as someone who lives alone, getting daily social interaction can me really tough. My current job is essentially fully remote and I do find it a struggle because of that

Same, my job is hybrid but we just switched to 2 days in office. We were only 1 for a long time and I also live alone and the isolation is starting to get to me! I don’t like barely leaving my home and being so busy I’m stuck at my desk, barely moving my body, barely going outside, barely talking to people. It’s not healthy for me.

yeah i'm currently doing a job remotely that pre-pandemic i was doing in person in an office and i go back and forth on missing being in an office. on the plus side, being remote means it's easier for me to juggle multiple streams of income (i do some pet sitting and tutoring on the side). also really enjoy being able to wear comfy clothes and not have to worry about packing food/bringing everything i need for the day into the office.

on the other hand, meeting people in the office was a nice way to socialize and sometimes i miss being able to walk outside and grab lunch or coffee with coworkers. there are also days when i'm sitting at my desk at home all day working and just have a moment of "....am i really doing this all day?"

for now i'm sticking with full time remote while i have some financial goals i wanna hit. but i think if i get to a point that i knock those goals out and i can take a little hit in income, i might start looking for an in-person job.

I feel you completely. I'm an introvert and workplace is where I get most social interactions with. I overthink too much when I'm alone.

As an ESL person too, I forget my conversational English the less I talk.

Thank you ❤️
With me, I always have to converse a lot verbally and daily or I my brain doesn't think up the English word fast enough to let my mouth talks smoothly, so my sentences doesn't structured properly or I completely forget certain words completely at the moment.

Yeah, there's things I love about it, but it gets very lonely and hard to focus sometimes.

There was also a point made that WFH makes it more difficult for co-workers to communicate issues with working conditions so it's harder to unionize.
