September 16, 2024 Fresh off their
acquisition of The Brutalist at Venice last week(ish), A24 has bought stateside rights to Friendship, a comedy starring Emmy winner Tim Robinson (I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson) and Paul Rudd.
Written and directed by Andrew DeYoung in his feature debut, Friendship recently premiered at TIFF and was the second runner-up for the People's Choice Midnight Madness Award. It stars Robinson as a suburban dad who obsessively pursues a bond with his charming neighbor, played by Rudd. Kate Mara, Jack Dylan Grazer, Josh Segarra and Billy Bryk also appear in the film.
SOURCE The writer/director said in a recent interview that when he sent the script to Tim Robinson, he told him "I wrote this for you and I want to shoot it like [Paul Thomas Anderson's] The Master," so...... count me all the way in tbh!
