In a federal indictment unsealed today, Sean "Diddy" Combs was charged with racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. The charges are tied to "freak offs," coerced sex acts that Combs allegedly orchestrated and recorded.
Agents "seized various Freak Off supplies, including narcotics and more than 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant." They also seized firearms and ammunition, including “three AR-15s with defaced serial numbers.”
His legal team want him out on bail and offered a $50 million bail package, consisting of $48 million in home equity and $2 million from his mother's property, with stipulations including revoking his children’s passports and restricted travel to Florida and New York.
Prosecutors however do not want Diddy to be allowed out on bail as he awaits trial because they believe he could “potentially flee,” TMZ reports. In court, Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Johnson said the government is seeking Combs’ detention on “multiple bases,” including the severity of the charges against him and argued that he is a flight risk and that there is a risk of witness intimidation.
Diddy pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.
Judge Robyn Tarnofsky denied Diddy bail and ordered him to be sent to jail while he awaits his sex trafficking trial. In deciding to deny Combs bail, Tarnofsky said she has “very significant concerns” about Combs’ substance abuse and “what appears to be anger issues.”
