Meanwhile I'm still mourning the mini series about the Marauders that never happened (and Ben Barnes as Sirius Black)

idk why they insist on rebooting the series when a marauders spinoff would have been much more interesting

Because fantastic beasts fantastically flopped so theyre being safe instead of doing what people want

true. i think the reboot will be successful but it won't come close to the hype around the movies

Yeah but fantastic beasts didn't have the same history as the marauders. I think they'd have been more successful if they made a series about them.

Fantastic Beasts had so much potential. Just so much possibility to be a fun adventure chasing fantastic beasts all over the world, and instead they went with...all that.

I feel like everyone has such decisive and different headcanons about the Marauders at this point that any adaptation would just disappoint. People would be mad about everything that isn't as good as they've imagined it to be and let's be real JKR lost whatever mojo she had long ago. The story of The Cursed Child was HORRIBLE and the Fantastic Beasts movies were all a mess.

was just gonna comment this! aren't there multiple novel-length famous fanfics about the marauders? obviously they can't just adapt the fanfic so it would piss people off. and i doubt they would put any gay relationships in it, which i think would also piss a lot of people off because shipping is a huge part of the marauders fandom.

Yeah, in the year 2024, the average Marauders stan is a Barty Crouch Junior apologist who thinks Dumbledore is Literally the Devil and a racist fanfiction they read four years ago is "canon." They don't want an adaptation. They want to keep pretending their favorite assholes are perfect, little sweeties who did nothing wrong.

I can't believe JKR hasn't tried it yet to draw people back in, tbh. I'm over anything she could put out by this point but that's what the people always wanted.

I don't think the average person gaf about those characters, outside of maybe Sirius. It's what hardcore fans want, but Snape is still more popular with the general audience than all those characters combined and much more likely to be the protagonist of any prequel they make.
