September 10, 2024 - Luca Marinelli, who plays Nicky, can be summarized as having said: He is also excited to see the movie, and hopes the fans are, too. That's it.
- Multiple cast members have come out in recent months, including Charlize Theron (also a producer for the series), to try and explain why the movie has taken so long to come out, but to summarize: Netflix shut down post-production due to "executive changes" and they only recently started back up despite the movie having completed filming over two years ago.
- The Old Guard was planned to be a franchise before the first movie was even made/released, but Netflix has seemingly forgotten it exists.
- Uma Thurman and Henry Golding joined the cast for the sequel in unspecified roles.
SourceWhen I was trying to source this, I found a lot of BTS stuff from two years ago when the movie was actually filmed. Looks like they had fun filming in Trieste in summer 2022? That's all I got, but I am going to will this movie into the light of the day even if Netflix for some reason wants us to collectively forget they had an LGBTQ+ superhero movie that actually had good reviews and extremely high ratings. Which cast member do you think gets asked next? I think only Kiki Layne and Marwan Kenzari of the original main cast haven't been quoted yet on how much they don't know about their own movie. Reshoots in Vancouver next month, though! Fingers crossed!
