If you think you can't be a father, I have a solution.

Don't procreate.

tbh one of the main reasons why I've never had a kid is because I'm too afraid of being a bad parent to them, like my then inexperienced parents dealing with their own childhood trauma (my mother especially) were to me. So this is me breaking that cycle.

I really hate that people are soooo nonchalant about birth control and taking precautions. Wrap it up, get a vasectomy, whatever, do what you need to do if you don't want to be a parent.

yeah, I'm just not here for the ~I'm a terrible parent bc I had terrible parents~ excuse bc yes, hurt people hurt people and all but some of the best parents I know had shitty parental figures and turned out to be fantastic with their kids. if you're not ready or willing to really step the fuck up for your children then don't bring said children into the picture.

I wish they were more honest and just said I don't want to. Or stayed quiet.

My dad didn't have the best dad or the best upbringing, but that man stepped up and raised two girls when my mom passed in my early teens. Barry has no excuse.

My dad's dad passed away when he was 5. My dad was born to be a father and before my parents got married and my mother asked what would happen if her daughter from a previous marriage ever decided she wanted to live with her, he just said 'then we'll have one more child'.

The only thing I do understand about Keoghan's comment is that he wasn't a conventional father in some regards, but I only realized that when we were already grown-ups and the things he did differently than my friends' dads were actually downright feminist in hindsight.
