My new theory based off the rancid vibes she’s been giving out as of late is that in private she’s one of those people who unironically complains about woke. Republican talking points are no stranger to her-I remember when she was talking about Scooter Braun buying her masters and she randomly blamed it on George Soros, and a couple of Jewish members called her out for it but got spoken over by stans who were like “she got that talking point from her dad, it wasn’t her!” imo she’s one of those people who thinks wokeness broke her and Matty up and now she’s going to get back at wokeness by doubling and tripling down on being Brittany’s bestie. Because imo, if she was interested in self preservation, she would have at least distanced herself from Brittany in public and stayed friends with her privately, but with her going out of her way to make sure everyone knows they’re still besties, there’s something deeper going on here and it’s revenge.
Yeah it’s a cult , of people who project themselves onto her and think she’s their bestie or are living vicariously through her, and in return she sees them as ATMs. It’s actually comical. With their defenses of her, a lot do her stans have been telling on themselves that they really don’t have that much of a problem with racism or homophobia or other forms of bigotry either and they see themselves in her.

I believe it. She's very bitter and vengeful when she doesn't get away and she's probably bitter about the fact that Matty moved on as quick as she did and is engaged to dark-haired IG baddie who is more in-tune with that cool kids club that Taylor always wishes she'd be invited into. Cause honestly her hugging it up with Brittany PUBLICLY was very surprising for someone that avoid bad press or suspicions like that. I guess she was serious when she said it's career to blow up if she wants on but daddy.
At this point if you're the type to still make excuses for Taylor despite all the loud positions and antics she's taking rn then I gotta assume you're same type of apolitical, egotistical person she is. You only care about your bottom line.

Idk, I had a friend from college who while we were in college was very active in left-wing causes. After college, she had a mental breakdown because of moving back home and being far from her college friends, and also because of a bad break up. Around the time of the 2016 election she melted down very publicly over Facebook over people not being left wing enough for her liking, unfriended everyone, and I didn’t hear from her for years. She added me again on Facebook a couple of months ago and I was so excited to hear from her again until I noticed the shit she was posting… I was FLOORED. She converted to Catholicism, won’t stop posting about how evil abortion is, and also won’t stop posting Bible verses next to pictures of Trump. So in the time span of 2016 to 2024 she went from being a left wing activist to a Trad Cath right winger.
I keep thinking about her every time people say “but Taylor supported Biden in 2020, she couldn’t have changed that much in four years” 🙄 First of all, she never cared that much, she just wanted her career back and her true love has always been money. But there are also two clear factors that could have affected her sliding further to the right in the four years since - 1) becoming a billionaire whether it’s just the celeb kind or the real kind and 2) TWO bad break ups, one with Joe whom she now seems to feel forced her to speak up when she would’ve loved to stay silent and one with Matty whom she can blame leaving on her woke viper fans or whatever. The bad break up was an inciting factor for my former friend to become a right winger too! I don’t know why it’s so hard for Swifties to see who she is now. Especially after she called them all vipers.

But honestly I've heard of that. Personally I don't get it and honestly I wonder if they were ever genuine in the first place?? Cause her being more concerned about everyone not being as vocal as she is already an annoying and sus lol. I've never had a mental breakdown (only anxiety episodes haha) so idk how bad it gets that shifts your whole personality but I get the feeling she probably had these issues already in her. She seems like she likes the idea of being in a group with similar minds but more importantly shouting lol. All this because of a breakup?? please. Idk, thinking about other people I’ve known who became more right wing, they were all fans of those same damn podcasts that Matty loved. Red Scare Pod, The Adam Friedland Show, etc. I’m now wondering… Taylor and Matty were probably cheating with each other for quite some time before they officially debuted as a couple. Everyone assumed it was just Matty obsessing over those podcasts but how do we know Taylor wasn’t listening to them too during all that time they spent cheating with each other? 👀👀👀 Because this conversation is making me realize her behavior kinda reminds of me of other people I know who moved to the right’s behavior and the commonality is those podcasts.
I agree with you that for someone to change that drastically, they were always like that and they probably came from a privileged background in the first place, but a destabilizing life event like a bad break up can make it come out. They search for a source of stability and right wing ideology offers false promises of that. Of course it’s not an excuse for that behavior, but it does seem to be a pattern I’ve seen.
I don’t think Taylor is who people have convinced themselves she is at all and more and more she’s going to continue to slip.

I agree that the breakup and other problems were the catalyst but not the cause.
When those audio clips of Matty came out with him saying nasty things about Ice Spice was that recent? Cause if he said around the time he was with Taylor then no way she wasn't around that, Matty unlike Taylor speaks his mind wrong or right so no way she wasn't aware of it and maybe she even listened to that stuff.
Btw I just noticed that when she got Ice Spice on the Karma remix, we all knew it was because she was trying to protect her image but wasn't she still with Matty...like the breakup hadn't happened yet? I wonder if she did it more for him than even herself cause she seems to bend herself for guys sometimes. For Calvin, she agreed to use a pseudonym for "this is what you came for", for Joe she agreed to be private (even though this was also to her convenience), and maybe for Matty who seems to be down bad for compared to her exes...she was trying to tame the fires of his comments cause she never came out and dismissed those comments.
I'm just noticing that for Calvin and Joe, she went on the offensive and attacked them in the press or in her lyrics, but Matty has gotten off scot-free in comparison. And of all her exes this is the one that got away and the one that she's been indirectly vocally~ bitter about in other mediums. She attacked her fans over HIM....this never happened in the other cases.

I think that people gave her the benefit of the doubt that she wouldn’t be listening to those podcasts too because at the time people still believed that it was a quick little fling and because one of them made fun of her mom once, but she could’ve missed that episode and that affair went on for quite some time. We know when she dates someone she takes on all their interests whether it’s Joe and film or Travis and football-I think she and Matty have much much much more in common than people are willing to acknowledge! I’ve seen people obsessed with those podcasts slide from left-wing to full on Trump supporters sooo.
Matty and Taylor were first spotted together in October 2022 and the Ice Spice clip went viral early in 2023, so she was certainly around for that! I wonder if they had lasted if she would’ve been started dropping edgelord political takes to try to keep up with him.
She went relatively scot free on him because she wants him back but if you state the obvious Swifties will pop up to tell you she’s sooo in love with Travis, lol. Yeah sure. If she was truly over him, she would’ve tried to bury him but she is still holding a candle for him which is why she focused more on the interpersonal conflict and complaining that he left her, which you can still come back from. As I’ve said, they might try again in 10 years like JLo and Ben but that door has closed for the time being.
This girl has had everyone fooled, lmao! After this conversation, I’m going to guess that her political trajectory was Republican up until 2016ish, then fooling herself into thinking she was a milquetoast Democrat to fit in with her friends and then boyfriend, then started to creep back right wing when she reconnected with Matty and doubled and tripled down after the backlash that led Matty to leave.

This isn't to say he hasn't slid towards a chanlord-type of political atheism in recent years but I know he's been outspoken about Palestine, something he has in common with Joe actually lol, and I think you'd have to get Taylor at gunpoint to get her to even acknowledge that part of the world exists, much less, yknow, denouncing a fucking genocide. And the way that the broad swathe of her fans who hold genuinely progressive politics (so, not white woman liberals lmao) and will attack other artists over it, suddenly have all the excuses in the world for why Taylor can't say something, actually. Usually some variation of it not being safe, which I'm sure the Vienna cancellation will be used forevermore as a shield to infantilise a thirty fucking five year old woman who does not care about anything that doesn't affect her or can't be used to boost herself up and/or put other competitors down

i don't want to make it sound like i'm blaming him either. Taylor is responsible for her own actions. it's more that i'm just noticing a connection between the way some people i knew irl started sliding to the right when they listened to those podcasts and realizing Taylor seems to be behaving similarly and there's a clear connection between her and those podcasts and how she could've discovered them lol.
the people i saw irl undertake this journey started out Matty Healy style edgelords and turned out just regular old Trump supporters.

I read sirlolsworthy's comment below and saw the link mentioning Matty's political stances and it really is hilarious that I think all her exes have made stances and spoken up on things that are important to them while Taylor literally can't do that. But also her and Matty were never gonna make it even without the children intervening. Matty is an outspoken person, he doesn't have a filter. Taylor would eventually have to put up with him speaking on anything whether it's political, social, or financial....which if she like you say takes the personality of whoever her bf is.....she'll literally have to be forced to speak in support or apologizing for whatever he says. LOL her dad would intervene with someone like Matty looool!!!
I don't think even Matty would've lasted with her once the honeymoon phase fades out cause I can't believe even he wouldn't get annoyed with her calculated and greedy stances.
