An opinion piece that points out the obvious:

Taylor does nothing by accident and she sure as hell doesn't seem interested in adressing the upcoming election.

Which would make her “Miss Americana” political awakening look like just another of her eras that she is done with now.

I usually believe that politics is a personal matter, and no one should feel obligated to disclose their views if they don’t want to. So, it’s unfair to harshly judge her for not being vocal.

That being said, if someone were using my fake picture as an endorsement and the candidate was actively promoting it, I would definitely speak up. The fact that she’s stayed quiet is unacceptable! She could have easily come forward to say the image is fake and that her political views have always been private.

they havent been though? she was vocally against martha mccallum, she did the cookies pic, she even wrote a political song for the end trailers of her documentary in which she talks about wishing shed said something against trump when he ran the first time

There are plenty of celebs who I have no idea where they stand. But they also didn’t create a 2hr documentary about being political and have books written about them claiming she’s some social justice warrior sooo… she can’t have it both ways

The main reason why Taylor got called out compared to other similarly apolitical or quieter celebs is because she used feminism as part of her brand for the 1989 cycle. Then in comes Trump saying things "grab her by the pussy" and other things....the other pop girls immediately reacted while Taylor never said a word. People/fanbases started noticing that and said it was weird that someone who invoked feminism all throughout her promo cycle and especially as a defense against her critics suddenly goes quiet when now that feminist spirit and voice is needed

Also, during the 2016 cycle the MAGA crowd were frequently using her image to portray her as some sort of Aryan queen. And she couldn't even release a statement to denounce them. Even though her team at some point took the time to denounce some other really petty shit (I can't remember exactly what, but it was something irrelevant anyway)

It's the same now as it was 8 years ago - fans are begging for scraps saying they want a statement saying she doesn't approve of her image being used in this way. And she can't even do that.

Yeah I remember her coming for etsy creators but nothing for the right-wing groups.......she and her fanbase will say safety so many other celebs with lesser protection and influence have spoken up against similar groups. She literally has no excuse!!

Why is politics considered a personal matter? Not being snarky here, but I’m curious your thoughts. I don’t think it’s that taboo, personally, and think people should be comfortable asking someone their political leanings so they can decide whether they want them in their circle, life, be a fan, etc. especially rn with the political climate…maga, etc.
