So I guess they're not going to campaign Zoe then? There goes a lot of pundits' prediction LMAO.

they’re going to run her too, but they might be mulling over whether to put her in Lead or Supporting. Selena going Supporting is a lot like Christina Ricci moving to the Supporting Actress category for Yellowjackets instead of being in Lead like the other actors playing the adult versions of the characters. it was an easier path to nomination there, and they just don’t know yet which will be better for Zoe

I guess that makes sense. IDK, I feel like this year supporting will be more open, but who knows at this point - this year is going to be WIDE open in most categories.

i feel like since they're putting karla in lead they'll put zoe in supporting with selena, that category is pretty wide open at this point right?

Both supporting and lead look wide open, but Zoe Saldaña is the one out of all three of them who has the best chance of winning due to her long history in the industry and her box office record. Karla is too unknown in the U.S. to win in a category that favors veterans recently and Selena, well, she’s not known as a good actress. Since lead is wide open too, Zoe might pull a Lily Gladstone/Michelle Williams/etc and take the risk of running in lead, even though it would be easier to win in supporting, so that she can be seen as a leading lady and improve the roles she’s offered in the future.
