'Nightbitch' Toronto Review: Amy Adams takes a walk on the wild side in Marielle Heller’s story of a woman who is going to the dogs. #TIFF24 review by @TimGrierson #Nightbitch https://t.co/Spr5Rj4Oin

‘Nightbitch’ : is a gently observant comedy-drama about the perils of motherhood that could use a little more bite. Amy Adams powers a film which sometimes glides on the surface of a story that feels inherently more anguished and raw. Adams becomes legitimately animalistic at certain points. Adams’ occasionally ferocious, often bone-weary turn is quite touching.

It's is a daring, smart film, because of the important, difficult discussions it’s having about motherhood, losing one’s identity with becoming a parent, and how keeping part of who you are intact after such a huge change is good not only for yourself, but for your family as well. It gives Amy Adams a role that allows her to be pretty wild and experimental, but she also gives one of her best comedic performances since Enchanted

Amy Adams just simply envelopes this role, completely believable and compelling as a mom on the edge. Adams knows exactly how to make it all work, and she does splendidly. There is simply no way this movie could have been written or made by a man, at least to get the kind of stellar effect this amusing and moving valentine to moms achieves. Marielle Heller does an exceptional job guiding it behind the camera.

'The Room Next Door' marks Pedro Almodóvar's English language debut, with Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton leading this quieter, more pensive story. Read Entertainment Weekly's review. https://t.co/U0rE1LBtJR

'The Room Next Door' : Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton share most of the film and are riveting as they wander through this pensive drama. Moore is a whirling dervish of anxiety and emotion, her nerves so frayed we can practically see sparks flying from her fingertips. In contrast, Swinton is breathtakingly still, a woman who long ago made peace with death and welcomes it as her last act of self-possession. Moore and Swinton are never anything but flawless as performers, and that remains true here as they grant an exquisite introspection to their characters. To watch these two masters at work, just existing with each other, is reason enough to see the film. It is a heartfelt portrait of friendship: its cozy familiarity, deep warmth, and inevitable sense of unknowability.

With 'The Substance,' Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley tackle aging and beauty standards with unfettered violence. Read Entertainment Weekly's review. https://t.co/zyWMuyUqWZ

'The Substance' : is a grotesque parable about the lengths women will go to pursue youth and beauty, it is also a brilliant excoriation of double standards and a portrait of obsession. Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley give truly unhinged performances. It's horrifying and hilarious in equal measure. There is nothing subtle about it, the film is a true work of body horror.

'The Fire Inside' Review: Rachel Morrison's Boxing Drama Is a Monumental Achievement #TIFF24 https://t.co/5V0watGqkj
- TheWrap (@TheWrap) September 8, 2024

‘The Fire Inside’ : is a monumental achievement for the talented cast and director Rachel Morrison. Marked by a stunning performance from Ryan Destiny and the stoicism of Brian Tyree Henry, the film is a winner from its first frame to its last. The actors give this story the heart it needs without taking away from the history it provides.
