‘BEETLEJUICE 2’ earns $41.5M in the film’s domestic opening day.

It is the 3rd highest domestic opening of 2024.

100 million??? what the hell do they keep pumping so much budget into these movies for??? did they pay for everyone's ozempic???

They rebuilt sets in the same tiny town in Vermont where the first one was filmed where pretty much the only existing location was Lydia's school which was seen for 2 seconds.

And instead of filming in California for interiors and stuff, they filmed in England. Idk if that saved anything or whatever. The afterlife got a giant expansion pack for the sequel, too.

I calculated the inflation and the first one was $40m in 2023 dollars so it wasn't as big of a stretch at least. And they had bigger set pieces this time and more cgi but everyone also probably got paid a lot more.

i can imagine a bit of that went into burton, michael, winona and jenna's pockets. probably $30m total easily

plus all those extra sets and costumes definitely looked like they cost a pretty penny to put together (and cgi ain't cheap). production plus salaries definitely show on screen

100 million doesn’t seem like a lot to me given that they did a lot by hand and I mean, that’s how much the first movie mad in the 80s
