George R.R. Martin wrote a (since-deleted) blog post about the changes in the second season of 'House of the Dragon'. Much of his grievances come from removing Maelor, Helaena's third son and the ensuing 'butterfly effect' in how it changes the plot for the rest of the show.

Martin also indicates "there are larger and more toxic butterflies to come, if HOUSE OF THE DRAGON goes ahead with some of the changes being contemplated for seasons 3 and 4…"
