In July 2009 (between Sweeney Todd and Alice in Wonderland, and around the same time the MoMA in NYC was gearing up for its retrospective on Burton's career), Twitter (I'm not calling it X) user @bobservo (co-host of the podcasts Retronauts, Talking Simpsons, and What a Cartoon) jokingly commented on wanting to see Tim Burton's whimsical take on something mundane, specifically mentioning a Denny's menu. In 2024, Denny's now has a Beetlejuice Beetlejuice tie-in menu promoting the film with such dishes as the "Say It Three Times Slam" (three small chocolate chip pancakes, three eggs, and three strips of bacon) and the Afterlife Melt ("this triple cheese threat is made with fried mozzarella sticks, melted American and provolone cheeses grilled between two slices of American bread, served with tomato sauce for dipping and wavy-cut fries". Denny's is not that popular these days in the United States, so the fact that it was Denny's that was the home to the tie-in promotion is quite odd.

Coincidence? Purposeful reference to a 15-year-old tweet by a podcast host? Are you going to Denny's to sample this new menu?
