The Old Guard 2 is reportedly heading into some reshoots next month, but they'll be less than two weeks long, so they're probably just standard pickups. #TheOldGuard2 🔗 https://t.co/fXnM6plmQb pic.twitter.com/sODVnMLpqR

I've been living under a rock so will ask, is this franchise queer and should I watch?

They're even on the thumbnail for this WatchMojo video! And there is a hinted-at lesbian couple (but not currently together).

Except [Spoiler (click to open)]they're a happy very in love gay couple who have been together over 1,000 years and there are several very lonely other immortals stuck with them who are very depressed and have to deal with these two being adorable the entire time they're in the same place.

I'm seeing from your comment below that there are graphic novels too? But they may or may not be worth reading?

They're good but the plot is fairly different

Nicky and Joe invented love!

I do have some questions about how they got together (beyond the "we killed each other a lot because enemies haha" part):

1.) Did they speak any common language?

2.) Which one of them was like, "Hold up, this is weird?"

3.) Did they have a conversation before they moved on to fucking each other?

But yes love transcends all. And the Tales Through Time graphic novel does not cover those questions at all (although it does have a case of where they were fighting and not speaking to each other for months/years and forcing Andy and Booker to be their go-between - and one of just Joe hanging out in the mountains and it was a weird little vignette). And the graphic novels also whoopsie made Nicky and Booker look exactly alike so that was awkward.

1) Nicky was a priest and Joe was a merchant, I imagine they could have both maybe known a smattering of Greek in the beginning.

2/3) The comics just sort of mentioned that there were circumstances that made it necessary for them to travel together. Eventually they grew closer and by the time they met Andy and Noriko during a Mongol invasion they were smashing. Who knows how long it took between 999 and 1206, nothing specific has been mentioned yet.

I didn't hate the story that took place in 1969 when Joe just wanted to be happy and watch the moon landing and Nicky decided to serial kill everyone who let that serial killer free. The woodsman cryptid Joe story was weird indeed, that doesn't seem like a thing he'd enjoy that much since he's more of the happy go lucky one of the group.

yes and yes, it's an enjoyable watch and the concept is pretty interesting. it feels like it would work better as a video game lowkey.
