Motherhood is a different beast. Amy Adams stars in NIGHTBITCH. Written and directed by Marielle Heller, based on the best-selling novel by Rachel Yoder. In select theaters this December.
i did! i really loved it - the voice got me into it right away, and even though it starts out the gate with a Big Premise i was still surprised by where the emotions of the story wound up going. i also liked a lot that it was a story in a lot of ways about how much being a mom can suck, but that part of what sucks about it is that it can be unexpected to actually love your baby like crazy and never want to be apart from them for a while, lol. + i’m always into stuff about the challenge of being both a woman and an artist

I loved the book but idk if reading it before the movie may not be a good idea. I was excited for this movie but this is so bad campy that I'm disappointed. The book to me didn't seem so shallow girl power like this movies giving. It was more frustrated mom losing her mind, trying to find herself - a lot of times in all the wrong ways - with a whole lot of magical realism.
If you do read the book - animal abuse trigger warning : [Spoiler (click to open)] she kills the family cat. I don't remember how, but it was pretty violent. she feels bad about it but god that was fucked up and I put the book down for a few days because of it.
I was going to comment that maybe this movie isn't going to win any Oscars, but I still thought it seemed promising...maybe mostly because I liked "Can You Ever Forgive Me?"
