I haven’t seen the show, so I have no opinion on whether it is good or bad. But I do want to say that some Star Wars fans are sad pathetic little creatures, who love nothing more than to use their so called love of the movies to be misogynistic and racist AF.

Hot take ahead

It also makes me wonder if these weirdos even like Star Wars, because it feels like all I ever hear is how much people hate the movies/shows. They saw the first movie when they were five, and decided to make it their life long personality. so now nothing will ever live up to they way they felt when they were five years old, and it’s just depressing to see people live that kind of life.

the show was great imo and stayed in the top 10 of disney+ through its entire run, so people watched it

it also did a good job of bringing in young viewers that have never been interested in star wars before, so I think it’s dumb for disney to not let it continue at least another season to wrap everything up

and as for your hot take, you’re absolutely right. a lot of the online hate is from those who don’t even care about star wars. they’ve just joined the “i hate star wars” club so they can be within a community of bigots bc they’re just sad horrible ppl irl and it’s what their favorite alt-right creator told them to hate

I was never into Star Wars, but I understand it’s significance in pop culture. I understand that people feel passionate about it and that’s all well and good. I am baffled at the people who have made it their life’s mission to hate everything about it while claiming to be fans. But I think you are right, the right wing bigots have taken over and are using it as cover for their hate. Which I find weird too because Darth Vader and the Imperial empire were an open allegory for Nazis and fascism. So here you have these right wing morons cheering on the resistance in the movies, and spew their proud boy nonsense on social media.

I loved the show and think it’s on par with many of the SW shows. It really brought in interesting elements like the witches, the Jedis essentially being a cult and dark side doesn’t mean one sided.

It should have been renewed imo.

That's something they've been struggling with since they bought the franchise. That's a major accomplishment.

The show was bad and SW fanboys are pathetic cretins. These two facts aren’t mutually exclusive.

Not a hot take! You're 100% right! It's called the anti-fandom/anti-fan, there's been studies about it.

saw it when they were 5? this would imply that most of the haters are in their 50s. I wonder if that is actually the case.

not necessarily if their parents let them watch it as kids. I was 6 when the theatrical rereleases of the original trilogy happened and my dad took my sister & i to see all of them and got them for us on VHS

It could just be that’s how old you were the first time you were able to watch it ever. I was born in the late 80s and the first time I saw it on vhs was probably between 5 and 7.

The show was good and had good viewership, while the ~audience~ (white male basement trolls who are sadly the loud majority, and yes, it's the same people who post under every tweet/ig how Andor is the best thing since the invention of toaster and they are very intellectual in fact) gave it low ratings before it even actually premiered lmao.
It was racism and misogyny that killed this show, supported by Disney who doesn't give a flying fuck that the whole cast and crew have been harassed for months and months, before, during, and after the show.
Frankly, I still love a lot about Star Wars, but after this show was buried and these "fans" have been dancing on its grave ever since, I just don't fuck with it anymore. I am not going to stream anything legally or buy anything again. I'm really done this time.
They can enjoy their little homogenous club, I'm out. 👋

As someone who has only seen the episodes 1-6 films and Rogue One (but claims to love Star Wars) I really liked the show! It was interesting to me plus Manny Jacinto is super hot. I heard good things from other ONTD commenters and tiktok which is why I decided to give it a try

your hot take is 100000% right. so many people have built careers off feeding into the constant cycles of the outrage of those people (see the “fandom menace”). they enjoy nothing about it anymore, but they like to feel superior by pretending they’re the only true fans who understand it. makes me ashamed to even say i like star wars.

these are the kind of people who watch the show so determined to find plot holes that they don't actually pay any attention to what's going on and so decry their lack of understanding as bad writing

clowns from start to end

While having missed the entire screaming point of the prequels. If I hear one more "but the Sith were extinct"...

The show was bad but star wars fandom is truly bad. They weren't happy with the prequels either so nothing will make them happy anymore.
