I can't think of a situation where any of my friends would want to name a child after me, but even if they did, I'd actually request if I could suggest a name for the child instead. Mostly because my government name is not one I would want to pass along.

I still remember my old childhood friend wanted to name her bb after me- she ain’t white butchering baby names, but it’s literally French traditional masculine names with Black history attached to it passed down my father’s generations in France. She never got to name her babies that bc she got three girls lmao 🥲. She was close enough to name ha Aaliyah or something passable for her mixed white passing kids tho lol

One of my best friends has given her daughter my name as a middle name. I have a close relationship with that child, and her daughter liked knowing that. I never asked for it, to be clear, but I was very touched that she did so.
