Winona Ryder loves working with the young co-stars she’s been given over the last several years, but there is one aspect of them she isn’t exactly a fan of: their diminished love of film.

i am a huge cinephile (hopefully not a pretentious one though!) so i also worry about this. my siblings and i all went through phases of working at our local movie theater when we were teenagers so there was like a 5-6 year period where i never had to pay for a movie. i still love going to the movies and have amc and alamo passes since i tend to go at least once a week; usually more like 2-3 times a week when oscar season rolls around.

when i watch movies at home i usually put my phone across the room or in another room so i don’t get distracted, though. i am finally seeing someone soon about potentially having adhd lmao.

speaking as someone with absolutely garbage taste in movies, "pretentious" as a pejorative has lost so much meaning bc so many people will apply it to anything they haven't heard of. for some people, listing any foreign film in your top 5 is enough to get you marked as pretentious. fuck 'em!

Last week, someone mentioned that there's a segment of the population that thinks anyone reading a book in public is pretentious. How have we gotten to a place in the timeline where a simple thing like READING is considered to be a negative and snobby thing?

"Pretentious" and "overrated" are now used as synonyms for "things I don't like."

That is a good idea, seeing someone. Because I just plug my phone into the charger next to me and forget about it. 🤷‍♂️

Not judging. I just can't relate. And I definitely have an addiction to my phone.

I do the same thing with the phone. I love movies and have never had a problem with watching multiple movies back to back but I also have to put my phone across the room or I'll keep picking it up. Part of it is because my mind is always on and the movie/show will remind me of something or ping something in my brain and I need to look it up. I too keep thinking I need to get tested for adhd (this is not the only reason why I think that).
