I don’t see how Justin is being childish.

imo, it just reads like he was a bit too idealistic and didn’t have a decisive vision for it, like a teenager making a movie for the first time. and then it reads like she’s a kid who really wanted to play monopoly but got sick of it halfway through lol

But that’s not childish. Also he had to navigate around the fact she was footing the bill

I didn't realise that was the case until I read this post. It does explain why there were tensions.

But, that's not how any of what was said comes off? Aside from saying he was inexperienced (which means nothing when you're literally talking about a directorial debut).

I don't think any of the claimed issues he had would be issues if he didn't have a lead with more power and influence trying to undermine not only him, but everyone on set -shrug-. The film considered the greatest of all time was a directorial debut. And while I'm sure Baldoni is no Orson Welles, and this film and the book it's based on are certainly no "Citizen Kane", but having a cast member NOT actively undermining your direction probably lends to a lot of what makes or breaks films in the production stages.

Reads to me like he was trying not to create conflict since she's a passive aggressive ass

I agree with you, I also get the vibe that he thinks he’s a lot better than he is when he’s really not. Like he’ll preach this kind of stuff then still befriend people who are shitty. Very few in Hollywood don’t suck

imo it doesn't come off like he didn't have a decisive vision, but that he did -- he simply hired people who he judged capable of executing it. they did that, and then blake steamrolled them (by redesigning her character's wardrobe/shop set, bringing in her husband to scabbily rewrite scenes, and who knows what else). and because blake was an EP/bankroll, justin was hamstringed, so they ultimately put out a movie that was a compromise (and worse for it lol)

And ordered an entirely different cut of the movie from her husbands editor on that marvel film w/o justins consent.
