Legendary bonkbuster author Dame Jilly Cooper's Rutshire Chronicles is getting another adaptation. Rivals is set in the fictional region of 'Rutshire' where the power-grabbing social elite of 1980s England will do anything to one up each other. The playing field is the ruthless world of independent television in the '80s, previously ruled over by Lord Tony Baddingham.

The stacked cast include David Tennant as the villainous Lord Tony Baddingham, Aidan Turner as an earnest tv interviewer Declan O'Hara, and Alex Hassell as beloved Olympian and international playboy, Rupert Campbell-Black. Also on the cast are Nafessa Williams, Katherine Parkinson, Emily Atack, Danny Dyer, Lisa McGrillis, Victoria Smurfit, Rufus Jones, Claire Rushbrook, Maggie Steed, and Luke Pasqualino as Lord Tony's playboy younger brother.

This series of books was my special trash as a teen and I'm so excited that they've kept it in the 80s and perfectly cast everyone but Rupert Campbell-Black.
