"It Ends With Us" star Blake Lively said in an interview that Ryan Reynolds wrote a key scene in the final cut of the film. The movie began production on May 5, 2023 - three days after the start of last summer's WGA strike.

Yeah I agree. I don't think we were the only ones questioning her Oscar win and everyone knows her meteoric rise was because of his lobbying. She would've been better off coming up slow by strong instead cause the SLP was not it all and hasn't aged well in that regard.

I've always said that actors who win the Oscar when they're already well-known and have had those juicy roles prior are the ones that are better off whether or not they win the oscar or not. I have the same mentality as Denzel Washington, it's the actor who makes the Oscars, not the Oscar who makes the actor. Look at Tom Cruise, no Oscar wins but it doesn't matter, he's got the star power and filmography most winners wish they had and probably would trade their Oscars for. (Diablo Cody said she'd trade her Oscar for Barbie's massive success so there you go).

Both Jennifer and Alicia came up too fast and would've better benefitted from working their way instead of blowing up as quick as they did. Cause now people look back and say "okay they're fine, but what was the hype? or was it just hype??" which is the worst an actor can hear. Jennifer being American has more advantage than Alicia but I'm surprised Alicia hasn't been hustling those euro jobs. I know she's had some issues with conceiving and starting a family but her issues come long before that.

Blake is like super-irrelevant outside of Taylor and Ryan so I think that's why she kinda slide cause no one cares lol.

May it stay forever in development hell <3

I remember people were genuinely obsessed with her personality (even though they find the exact same personality annoying now lol) so she really did not need Harvey Weinstein to be successful and her career probably would’ve had more longevity if she came up more slowly! I don’t think Emma Stone ever peaked as high as Jennifer Lawrence did but she’s still going more than a decade later so.

Exactly, so many actors WITH Oscars would happily give their Oscars away for Tom Cruise’s career. Another example I remember from awards season was that Martin Scorsese lost the Oscar for Goodfellas to Kevin Costner for Dances with Wolves… but at the end of the day does it really matter? Budding cinephiles still watch Goodfellas but idk when the last time someone under the age of like 40 watched Dances with Wolves lol.

Another example from the 2010s that pains me to think about is Brie Larson! I feel like the Oscar she won was one of the fairest Oscars in recent times lol, she had no particular narrative going in, she wasn’t overdue or a starlet they were desperate to reward no matter what, she had a juicy role in a well-reviewed movie and she won the Oscar very fairly yet she hasn’t done anything but Captain Marvel since. She hasn’t advanced her career, she’s not a well-respected actress, it’s sad. That’s why I don’t mind them recently preferring to give Oscars to veterans to cap off their careers, instead of giving it to young actors too early in their careers.

To bring it back to the topic of the post Blake will never have to worry about this because she will never win an Oscar <3

Emma is an interesting case cause she did have an it-girl phase and I wasn't surprised cause I felt something special about her since Superbad. But unlike Jennifer, Emma is a bit smarter PR-wise and a hustler cause who've predicted going from teen sex comedies to 2x Oscar winner!! Emma def took advantage of the it-girl press but I thought she was one of the few to handle really well cause she flexed her comedy skills more than saying anything dumb like Jennifer did a lot. I knew when Emma started courting the SNL people it was good-good for her because she became one of their darlings. Her PR agent worked well but also Emma didn't waste time and clearly hustled it didn't take too long to go from teen sex comedies to comedies to romcoms to superhero movies to then dramatic stuff and now an awards darling!!

Which is funny cause I don't think she's the best actress out there, I think she's stronger in movie where she can be funny which you got a bit in LLL and really got it in Poor Things but I think in serious serious drama, she'd be weak.

I thought of Brie too cause she came out of nowhere, I remember her from Right on Track and Just like Dad which is all minor TV work, but she had some early buzz from Short-Term (which has since produced a few awards darling so hey) but regardless she won without much a narrative which great but also no one knows who she is and funny the night she won only Leo was the most recognizable star of the 4 acting wins...his win overshadowed everyone elses.

Yep Tom may never win (or who knows since he's coming back to dramas) but he'll probably get an honorary Oscars for his contribution but it doesn't matter. I also think of Nicole Kidman who has won but most people probably remember other roles from her over The Hours. I've seen more people remember To Die For, Eyes Wide Shut, and Moulin Rogue over the actual movie that won it for her, so similarly to Tom she would've been fine without the win.

Blake who.

Just jumping in to say Brie actually has been constantly working since Captain Marvel and is dipping her toes into producing and directing besides acting. I'd consider that career advancement.
she’s not a well-respected actress I don't think just because she is not the hot name everybody is shouting from the rooftops that she is not well-respected.
