You just know that Taylor is seething that Charli has the best reviewed album of the year compared to the middling reviews TTPD got which is her worst album by a mile.

I'm actually so mad that she decided to go so hard for the numbers for TTPD cause this is not an album that deserves any record breaking milestones... and I say that as a fan - folklore, evermore or reputation deserved this more but I know it wouldn't have been possible back then... but still I hate TTPD

I wonder if she's lowkey reaching the Kanye stage of her success where she's just surrounded by yes men who tell her every idea she has is amazing, so the quality control just leaves the room entirely? Because I'm with you, her giving this full court press of endless marketing and shilling to an album that isn't even in her top 5 albums feels like any remaining shred of real self-awareness is gone and she's just completely disappeared up her own ass.

re your first sentence, working with Jack I've gathered is like that. He doesn't rein his artists in or challenge them to do better. Her work with him vs Aaron Dessner is night and day - who honestly I'm thinking now that, along with Joe, actually had a LOT of input into how folk-more was written and sounded, because she's never done anything like that before or since. Even on MIDnights the few Aaron tracks immediately stood out and above the rest

I think that’s WHY she went so hard for it. The reviews were mediocre compared to what she’s used to so she wanted to compensate with the #s to be like “see everyone loves it!” lol
