"I am fighting to stay hopeful and not get too optimistic"

My daily battle between hope and dread is very tiring, I want Nov 5 to be here but I also am terrified of bad news. tr*mp has to lose.

Same here. Every time I start to feel a little too hopeful, I remember 2016.

I'd rather all the polls say she was behind tbh, because if she loses it would hurt just a little less. And at the same time, how is she not 4000 points ahead of tr*mp in every state? I can't with this stupid country.

I got a good feeling about 2024 and then I’ll go back and check the polling for 2016 to bring myself down to earth. And then I’ll remember about the margins of error. Some people are ashamed about voting for Trump, but still do so they lie. And I have to rely on a segment of the population that has failed us over and over to do the right thing so we can win.

I am going to be happy when I could get off this train of Hope and misery.

I'm already at the Trump winning stage, now I'm coping that he doesn't get enough control to get a lot of project 2025 off the ground. Gay marriage is absolutely gone though, and there will be a nation-wide abortion ban.

the good thing is she’s campaigning like the polls say she’s down, and they’re taking the time crunch seriously. every video of her traveling they ask her what’s next and she’s like “I’m gonna keep going to the next place!”

IDK, I think it's a fools errand to compare the two elections. The political and media climate is so drastically different it just doesn't make sense.

I know the two campaigns can’t be compared. I don’t know if I can explain it right, but every time I get a hopeful feeling about Harris winning, I am reminded of how I felt when I thought Clinton would win. Although with Clinton it was more of a smug feeling. The utter shock I felt when she didn’t win was a major knock to me. I guess I just want to be more cautious this time around and not be lulled into a sense that everything will work out and be fine.

ptsd is s strong word but i cant even describe what it felt knowing those results. it was pure despair bc it went beyond politics, it just showed me how not just ignorant, but willfully rotten and evil people are. i was young so that realization hit me like a brick whew

FWIW 2016 was like if Biden had stayed in the race. The writing was on the wall with Clinton, and her campaign was terrible. Trump also had the advantage of being an unknown.

There's a lot that's different this time.

I just said the same thing earlier this week. I'm really excited to see so many people energized and engaged but I am also really afraid that we are lulling ourselves into a false sense of security.

same. just because we're energized again doesn't mean shit. people have got to show up and vote.

People who aren't energized don't show up and vote. The driving force to get people to vote is enthusiasm.

That's why negative talk is akin to voter suppression. Saying things like "both parties are the same," discourages people from voting at all.

I was just at a gathering where there ended up being a heated argument about the election and it was like…. how is the choice not obvious??? I didn’t get involved and just walked away because it just feels so despairing to know the people I was just talking to see me as a second class citizen.
