i don't know if i'm remembering this correctly but i feel like there were rumors at the time that scarlett cheated on him. but i wonder if that was his PR throwing out a distraction from what was happening with blake. i know scarlett gave some quote after their divorce about how she didn't think humans were meant to be monogamous but maybe that was a reaction to being cheated on.
