I still remember the time a friend told me it would be sad if we died in a car crash (we were driving at the time), because I wasn’t married with kids. We were about 24. She was divorced and with the guy she cheated with, had one kid with him and suffered from physical and mental medical issues as a result. She couldn’t even pee without being in pain. It was sad I didn’t have all of that.

Yep. I’ve never encouraged people not to have kids (outside of jokes), but some really love to push their views on me.

Ah yes, because it isn't at all sadder for young children to lose their mother in a car crash and potentially have the rest of their lives affected by it @_@ than someone dying in an accident is already anyway. I hope she's doing better now, at least!

Omg i had a coworker say something similar. A 24 yr old was in the news for a local car accident and my coworker started crying that she died before having kids. Like why would it be better to leave kids without a mother??!

I had a fight with an old friend many years ago in which she kept droning on and on about everything wrong about me. She tried to end it with a "when you're at my stage in life, call me". I snapped; listed all her miseries and stated that sure, when all that happens to me, I'll call, so don't wait by the phone.
