Aren't they getting married though? It would be...very weird to marry someone who doesn't plan to take an active role in your child's life.

I think she means she doesn't personally want to have children and be the sole or shared provider. I think she finds fulfillment in being a creative and knows that a child even with the best resources is going to dramatically change her life forever. She can still be incredibly involved in her future step daughter's life but she understands that girl has a mother and father who fills that primary role and she'll be a supportive figure in her life.

Oh I'm not disputing that, just the comment that being a stepparent does not equal an active parent. While this is certainly true for some, it's not exactly ideal! When you start a life with someone who has kids, the kids become part of your life too!

I just can't imagine marrying a man who did not intend to be an active participant in my (nonexistent) child's life. We are a family so that is now your kid too, but I guess everyone's different 🤷🏾‍♀️
