idk anything about how he is as a parent. my default is to trust Berry's claims tho

not saying this is what happened in this case, but having a child with someone is such a huge risk. ppl change for the worse after a break up for sure! but it's so terribly sad when you see ppl choose to have kids with someone whose red flags were apparent from the start. always heartbreaking

I was raised by a single parent from the start, so it's not my experience of having separate homes. But from what I read online, going from one home to 2 can be deeply traumatic for kids. Has that been yalls experience as a child of divorced parents or was the relief of them splitting enough to smooth out the changes to your life post-divorce?

my parents were abusive in different ways, but they both kicked me out every single time i got on their nerves (which, as a child of abuse, was often). i honestly don't even remember how often i was kicked out of one house and sent to the other.

i wound up running away a couple times, and left for good at 17 and moved across the country. came back eventually, but.

I was 4 when my mother & sperm donor divorced, so I don't really have memories of them together to base that off of. My frame of reference was always two houses, even though I was the only kid in my class then with divorced parents. When I was still a young child, I didn't mind going to sperm donor's on the weekends, but by the time I was 13, I had exceeded his maximum maturity level & he began treating me with the same abuse he'd always previously directed toward my mother. She's said that by that point, every time I had to go visit his house, I looked and acted like I were going to my own execution.... and that was just for a WEEKEND. I can't imagine for longer than that.
