My most controversial opinion is that Rachel and Joey getting together made sense. Feelings can develop over time and that development wasn't creepy like Ross's high school obsession. They lived together, got closer, feelings developed. 🤷‍♀️ It made sense to me and the hatred is so OTT to me.

Ross and Rachel as a couple deserves all the vitriol. 😂 They did not work. They were not compatible. Ross's jealousy and controlling behavior was super gross and it kinda weirds me out that people just ignore all that.

Anyway, divorced Rachel/divorced Mark for endgame. Thank you for your time.

I hated that Ross somehow felt this territorial and entitled sense of ownership with Rachel from the very first episode. Just because you have been harboring a crush on someone for ten years doesn't mean that you have any right to be jealous that she's meeting and dating other men. I mean, that alone was a huge red flag. But once they actually got together, he was dismissive of her job, jealous of someone trying to help her get a job that was in a field she was actually interested in, and immature enough to keep showing up at her job to do really personal/unprofessional things.

Though I agree with you completely, i hated Rachel's immature behavior following the breakup, including her fixation on getting married to the OC guy, her decision to attend Ross's wedding and declare her love for him, as well as her telling him how she felt when she saw how broken he was about Emily. Even Monica called her out on it. The same happened when she was pregnant, even though they weren't in a relationship.

yeah it was annoying they never really allowed the other to move on long enough. I do think Rachel had her flawed moments as well when it came to the relationship that she doesn't get called out enough on. Ross is obviously horrendous but I think most people acknowledge that

indeed, it's always Ross, but it's never Rachel, despite the fact that she did the same thing he did to her outside of their relationship

Exactly! I always think of that one episode where they've really started fighting... I think he fell asleep at her fashion conference? And he's so dismissive of her there, he doesn't respect her work at all, and when she says that she likes having this thing that's just for her that has nothing to do with him or their relationship he acts like that's actually a completely unacceptable thing for her to say. It's just weird. I always thought he saw her more as a trophy than an actual human being that he respected.

I always thought he saw her more as a trophy than an actual human being that he respected. The first two (?) seasons reminded me a lot of two people from my high school who dated several years after graduation. She was very pretty and part of the popular crowd in high school. I don't think he ever spoke to her during those four years. They ran into each other a few years after graduation, started talking, and ended up dating ( ... )

ia, rachel/joey had the foundation of true friends turned lovers. especially for joey who was a player, he always loved and respected rachel. he showed the most maturity at that point and wasn’t just dumb joey. i also thought they had chemistry.

ross/rachel didn’t make sense to me long term tbh

Joey/Rachel was fine for the simple fact that literally ANYTHING was better than Ross/Rachel. And the arc in s8 when he had a crush on her was well-done.

My ultimate crackship is Chandler/Rachel oop.

I also lowkey ship Chandler and Rachel if I watch the show. They're just cute together!! Any time they have their own little contained story, it's just fun. 😂

I’ve only seen a handful of Friends episodes but after reading these comments I’m starting to side with the Joey/Rachel people.

I get the feeling it only didn’t work is because people were hung up on Ross/Rachel and sounds like the writers didn’t intend for Joey and Rachel to work so probably wrote weird stuff.

my main problem with the ship is that the writers made Rachel dumb in order to match her with Joey
Phoebe was right there, and they liked each other already if they wanted to form a new couple from the original cast

That would have been terrible because then the main six would have all been paired with each other, which...no.

I can see this reasoning making sense. However, instead of making Joey more sensitive and become a better person, they brought Rachel down to Joey’s level and made her dumb and just completely out of character of her. If they can’t make the relationship work without completely changing her character, then the relationship doesn’t work.

At that point the actors were all totally just not into it, but I can see how the trajectory to Joey and Rachel developing feelings worked too. But I do agree, and I said this in the "overrated sitcoms" post before about how Ross/Rachel deserved more vitriol. They definitely overhyped it within the show and the audience because when you actually watch from start to finish they aren't as epic as someone like Phoebe claims.

Everyone, including the cast, were blinded by the (wrong lmfao) Ross/Rachel endgame goal!! 🤭

ROSS/RACHEL SUCKS!!!!!! THEY ARE NOT EACH OTHER'S LOBSTER!!!! 😂

Edit: I'm saying all this in jest, just to be clear lmfao I mean...I am a certified hater of them together, don't get me wrong. But my tone isn't serious!!!
